Snowpark Kaunertal – Snowboarden am Gletscher in Tirol
What a surprise! As in the end of January the infamous Powder Awards, the Oscar of freeskiing, were awarded in Aspen, Colorado, also the German boys from Legs of Steel, Thomas Hlawitschka and Paddy Graham, rake in two trophys. Legs of Steel pioneer and co-initiator Tobi Reindl was so stoked from the snowy Alps this time, that he stayed at home and made some good powder runs (-:! But that did not restrain the crew from travelling to the Rocky Mountains, moreover they were accompanied by Sebi Geiger, Lolo Favre, Oscar Scherlin and Antti Ollila. Twice the boys marched on stage to receive their trophies. The medals were awarded in the categories “Best Powder Segment” and “Best Man Made Air” (13 Men Train ). Yeah, fuckin ‘great!

Last but not least, the “mother” of the Snowpark Kaunertal, the Kaunertal glacier! Without this, there wouldn’t be a snowpark (:! 52 km groomed ski runs and 17 lifts ensure skiing and snowboarding pleasure and attracts thousands of enthusiastic visitors to Tyrols’ youngest glacier every day. Besides the well known Opening and the traditional Spring Classics, which we organize every year in best cooperation with the Kaunertal, the ski resort offers also many other events. As you may remember, we were looking for the best self-shot videos of the Tyrolean glacier areas in conjunction with Planet Tyrol and other media partners early December! At the season opening video contest, a total of 44 submitted videos battled for a prize money of 1000 € and nice goodies from Snowlab. Now finally, Planet Tyrol picked the winner! We may proudly present:
the “Dorfkinder” with their snowboardedit “Kaunertal-season opener.” Fine runs through the Snowpark Kaunertal, impressive shots in Kaunertalers’ backcountry and a cool “Dorfkinder”-crew made this thing a winner.
